How do I download YouTube thumbnails?

YouTube stores thumbnails in 5 sizes: default (120x90), medium/mqdefault (320x180), high/hqdefault (480x360), standard/sddefault (640x480), and maxresdefault (1280x720). Note: maxres may not exist for all videos.

What YouTube URL formats are supported?

All common formats work: youtube.com/watch?v=, youtu.be/ short links, youtube.com/embed/, and youtube.com/shorts/.

Do I need a YouTube API key?
