Downloading a YouTube thumbnail is simple with Tube Fetch. Here's exactly how to do it in three steps.
Step 1: Copy the YouTube URL
Navigate to any YouTube video and copy the URL from your browser's address bar. You can also copy URLs from YouTube Shorts, embedded players, or the youtu.be short-link format.
Step 2: Paste into Tube Fetch
Go to Tube Fetch and paste the URL into the input field on the homepage. Click Grab Thumbnails or press Enter.
Step 3: Save the Thumbnail
All five thumbnail resolutions will appear instantly. Right-click any image and select Save image as… to save it to your device, or click Open to view the full-size image in a new tab and save from there.
Which Resolution Should You Choose?
- Default (120×90) – Tiny preview, rarely used
- Medium (320×180) – Good for small thumbnails in lists
- High (480×360) – Standard quality, most common use case
- Standard (640×480) – Good for most presentations
- Max Res (1280×720) – Best quality, use this for print or large displays
Note: Not every video has a maxresdefault thumbnail. If you see a black image, try the Standard or High resolution instead.
